Sex Toys Are Good For Women's Health
A large body of research has shown that sex toys can be beneficial to women's health in addition to adding to the enjoyment of life. Alexandra Dubinskaya, M.D., of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, and her team conducted a study on this topic.
They reviewed 558 medical papers on the subject and combined their years of clinical experience to conclude that sex toys can improve urinary incontinence, chronic vulvovaginal discomfort and many other symptoms, as well as strengthen the pelvic floor. "Given the potential benefits of sex toys for pelvic health, they should be included in the treatment tools and approaches for women with pelvic floor disorders." Their paper was published May 1,2022, in the American Journal of Urology. Of the 558 abstracts of relevant literature,21met all inclusion criteria, including 11 studies of female sexual dysfunction,9studies of pelvic floor dysfunction, and 1 study of vulvodynia. Studies of sexual dysfunction from the literature suggest that vibratory stimulation promotes vasodilation and blood flow, improves tissue perfusion and metabolism, decreases muscle tone, and increases relaxation. Clinically, vibrator use has been associated with significant improvements in female sexual function index scores (p < 0.001) and increases in sexual arousal, sexual pleasure, and genital sensation. Patients who used the vibrator reported increased sexual desire, satisfaction and overall pleasure, decreased time to reach sexual pleasure, achievement of multiple sexual pleasures, and decreased pain.
Studies of pelvic floor dysfunction have shown that vibratory stimulation is associated with a significant decrease in sanitary pad use (p 0.001) and a decrease in urinary symptoms in women with stress incontinence and urinary leakage. Pelvic floor muscle tone improved significantly (P 0.001), quality of life improved on multidimensional assessments, and patient satisfaction with treatment improved. A single study of vulvodynia focused on vibratory stimulation to relieve pain and associated symptoms. After 4 to 6 weeks of using the vibrator, female patients reported analgesic and desensitizing effects, reduced pain, and increased feelings of pleasure in both sexes, Dubinskaya said. More than 80 percent of study participants expressed satisfaction with the treatment, and 90 percent said they were satisfied that their doctor recommended the use of a vibrating massager as a treatment modality.
Dr. Dubinskaya presented the findings at the American Urological Association's (AUA) 117th Annual Scientific Sessions in New Orleans, reviewing data and information on the use of sex toy vibrators to address a range of women's pelvic health issues. The 117th Annual Meeting of the American Urological Association (AUA) was held May 13-16 at the New Orleans Convention Center. Founded in 1902 and headquartered near Baltimore, Maryland, the American Urological Association is the leading advocate for the specialty of urology, with nearly 24,000 members worldwide. It may not be long before doctors are able to prescribe sex toys for certain symptoms.
Texas Restrictions On Sex Toys
A law in the southern U.S. state of Texas has generated media buzz that citizens can't own more than six sex toys or it's illegal. But many people complained that it was ridiculous that there was no limit on the number of guns the government could allow, and that "sex toys" were more dangerous than "guns"?
According to the Texas Penal Code, Article 43.23, Section f, it is illegal to possess more than six sex toys in the state (the article uses the term "obscene devices", which is actually "sex toys" and other adult erotic products). In contrast, according to the Washington Post, Texas law relaxed gun control in 2021 with the passage of a bill allowing adult citizens of the state to carry firearms in public without a background check. This means that anyone over the age of 21 with a clean criminal record can carry a firearm without having to undergo at least four hours of training (completing a written test and a firearm handling test).
While statistics show that shootings have been the leading cause of child deaths in the U.S. since 2020, Texas has relaxed gun control. So by that logic, "sex toys" are more dangerous than "guns"? If in Texas, it would be illegal for players to own these sex toys. In Texas, sex toys are described as "articles designed or sold for the primary purpose of stimulating the human reproductive organs" and are classified as "obscene".
This sex toy-related law dates back to the 1970s and was declared unconstitutional (an invasion of privacy) by a federal appeals court in the new century. But the Texas Legislature did not strike down this absurd law, and even invoked its provisions to punish feminists in 2004 for advocating the use of sex toys to improve the enjoyment of life. Texas' prominent Senator Ted Cruz proudly defended this law when he was the state's attorney general. In one of his 76-page memoirs, he likened the use of sex toys to "hiring prostitutes. He also said that human beings do not have the right to stimulate their intimate parts if it is not for love, procreation or medical purposes.
